Softball Recap: East Carter Raiders vs. Johnson Central Golden Eagles        
        
		
            
 It was a good run, but  East Carter unfortunately witnessed the end of their  seven-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Johnson Central Golden Eagles by a score of  4-3. East Carter was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Johnson Central apparently hadn't forgotten their  defeat the last time these teams played  back in May of 2019.
  Payton Rice put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching three innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. Rice has been consistent recently: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in five consecutive pitching appearances. Rice was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-4.
 Rice wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Shelby Felty, who  went 2-for-4 with a  stolen base and a  double.
 East Carter's loss dropped their record down to 16-4. As for Johnson Central, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.
 East Carter is on the road again  on Monday to play Lewis County at 6:00  p.m. East Carter's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4  runs per game  this season, so Lewis County's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Johnson Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Martin County at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday.
