Football Game Preview: Woodward Academy War Eagles vs. Decatur Bulldogs + How To Watch

The Woodward Academy War Eagles will challenge the Decatur Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Decatur will be up against a hot Woodward Academy team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The War Eagles really took it to Dunwoody for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-13 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the War Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Wildcats are ranked 245th).

Ryan Harrigan continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 321 yards and five TDs while picking up 11.5 yards per attempt. Those 321 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Joshua Isom helped Harrigan out on the ground, rushing for 91 yards, while also picking up 35 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Woodward Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Allan D. Pickens and Bryce Woods. Rocco Xerogeanes was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, making eight total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defending one pass.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Decatur). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Lakeside 28-0. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won three in a row.

Woodward Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Decatur, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.

Everything came up roses for Woodward Academy against Decatur in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 42-14 win. Will the War Eagles repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
