Greenwood is 0-10 against Andrews since March of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Greenwood Rangers are taking a road trip to take on the Andrews Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. Greenwood will be strutting in after a victory while Andrews will be coming in after a defeat.
Greenwood is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 16-5 margin over Lake View on Thursday. The win was some much needed relief for the Rangers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Addison Arredondo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Mae Savage was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Farrah Fortner, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.
Greenwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Andrews unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Frenship by a score of 6-5.
Andrews saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Bowman, who went 1-for-3 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Bowman hit this season.
Greenwood's record now sits at 9-10-1. As for Andrews, their loss dropped their record down to 16-5.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Greenwood hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Andrews struggles in that department as they've averaged .410. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Greenwood might still be hurting after the 19-8 defeat they got from Andrews when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Greenwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
