Softball Recap: Westview Wins Going Away Against El Capitan

Westview lost a heartbreaker the last time they played El Capitan, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's match. Westview put the hurt on El Capitan with a sharp 15-7 victory on Wednesday. That eight run margin sets a new team best for the Wolverines this season.

Kaya Rodriguez tossed a big game, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Reese Marier was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That run marked the first that she scored this season. Aleya Colon was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

Westview hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive contests.

Westview now has a winning record of 4-3. As for El Capitan, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Westview has already played their next game, a 16-1 win against Chula Vista on the 20th. As for El Capitan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 11-1 defeat against Point Loma on the 20th.
