Baseball Recap: Crystal Springs Uplands Sets Scoring Season-High Against Priory

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Crystal Springs Uplands). They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Priory Panthers on Thursday. With that win, the Gryphons brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Brandon Ma made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Ma was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Connor Uchida was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Nico Abad was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Crystal Springs Uplands pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Priory, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

Coincidentally, Crystal Springs Uplands and Priory will both be playing South San Francisco the next time they take the field. The Gryphons will host the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on the 15th, while the Panthers will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
