Softball Recap: Saegertown Wins Going Away Against Mercyhurst Prep

Saegertown's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They never let the Mercyhurst Prep Lakers get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Panthers this season.

Hailey Obenrader made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Saegertown got a massive performance out of Natalie Halsey, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those six RBI gave Halsey a new career-high. Leah McGill was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Saegertown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Saegertown's victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Coming up, Saegertown will be playing in front of their home fans against Cambridge Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mercyhurst Prep, they will head out to challenge Iroquois at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
