Basketball Game Preview: Walsh Eagles vs. Cheraw Wolverines

The Walsh Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Cheraw Wolverines at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Walsh has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since January 25.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Friday. Walsh took a blow against Eads, falling 59-20. While losing is never fun, Walsh can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while Eads is ranked 41st).

Despite the defeat, Walsh had strong showings from Maribel Carrillo, who posted eight points along with six boards and four blocks, and Averi Kunselman, who had four points.

Meanwhile, Cheraw came up short against Genoa-Hugo/Karval on Friday and fell 35-27.

Cheraw's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Walsh, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-15.

Walsh was dealt a bruising 60-16 loss at the hands of Cheraw in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Walsh, Crislyn Miell (who went 13-for-24 to rack up 32 points and six steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
