Baseball Recap: San Marcos Comes Up Short

San Marcos fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Torrance on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tartars by a score of 5-4. The Royals just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Quinn Melton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and one double. Miles Herbert was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

San Marcos' defeat dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Torrance, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Marcos will venture away from home to challenge Santa Barbara at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dons' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Royals' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Torrance, they will head out on the road to face off against Palos Verdes at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
