Softball Recap: Grace Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Grace Christian Academy fell victim to Columbia Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 10-0. The Lions have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Audrey George spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and eight unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Grace Christian Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Annie Henderson, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Shealeigh Phillips also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Grace Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Columbia Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Grace Christian Academy Lions face off against Battle Ground Academy Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grace Christian Academy is facing Battle Ground Academy at the right time seeing as Battle Ground Academy is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Columbia Academy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Providence Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on the 31st.
