Basketball Recap: North Baltimore Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact North Baltimore can now relate to. They were dealt a 58-25 defeat at the hands of the Kalida Wildcats on Thursday. The game marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

North Baltimore's loss came despite strong showings from Lacie Allison and Josselyn Paynter. Allison went 6-for-15 to rack up 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Paynter posted four points in addition to five boards and four blocks. Allison's evening made it 22 games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points.

Kalida was led to victory by Addilyn Huber and Meredith Bockrath. Huber almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine steals, while Bockrath almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. With that strong performance, Huber is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Kuhlman, who earned nine points and seven boards.

North Baltimore's loss dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Kalida, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

North Baltimore does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Kalida, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats face off against the Panthers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with McComb sitting on four straight victories and Kalida on ten.
