Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Marilyn Moreno and Desta Rose Lead Logan to Victory

Logan hadn't done well against Melrose recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Logan Longhorns secured a 60-56 W over the Melrose Buffaloes. This was a revenge game for the Longhorns: when they faced off against the Buffaloes back in January, they had to take a 43-41 defeat.

Logan was led to victory by Desta Rose and Marilyn Moreno. Rose posted 27 points and seven boards, while Moreno scored eight points along with six rebounds and five assists. That's the most points Rose has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aspen Casey, who put up seven points.

Logan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Logan's record is now 12-10. As for Melrose, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-3.

Coming up, Logan will be playing in front of their home fans against Texico at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Melrose, they are taking a road trip to take on Dora at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
