Basketball Recap: Canton Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Canton can now relate to. They had to suffer through a 79-39 loss at the hands of the Clopton Hawks. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

Charleigh Spoonster continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Clopton, shooting 65% from the field on her way to 32 points and eight assists. Spoonster's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Noah, who went 6-for-10 en route to 17 points and seven rebounds.

Canton's defeat dropped their record down to 18-11. As for Clopton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-3 record this season.

Canton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Clopton, they will square off against Tipton on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a seven-game winning streak alive.
