Baseball Game Preview: Kirtland Central Broncos vs. Navajo Prep Eagles

Kirtland Central is a perfect 10-0 against Navajo Prep since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Kirtland Central Broncos will face off against the Navajo Prep Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Kirtland Central will be strutting in after a victory while Navajo Prep will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Saturday, Kirtland Central got the win against Bernalillo by a conclusive 21-10. The Broncos haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Alijah Salas was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Matthias Veith was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Kirtland Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bernalillo only posted an OBP of .464.

Meanwhile, Navajo Prep fell victim to Miyamura and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Patriots, falling 34-0. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Jashyro Bileen was cooking despite his team's loss, getting three hits.

Navajo Prep's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Kirtland Central, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Kirtland Central took their win against Navajo Prep in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 15-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kirtland Central since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
