Football Recap: Bassick Starts Season with Loss at Home

Bassick unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against Wilcox Tech/Kaynor RVT on Thursday, falling 34-13. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it eight in a row.

Leading Wilcox Tech/Kaynor RVT to victory were Logan Stone and Justin Martinez. Stone rushed for 107 yards and a pair of scores on only five carries, while Martinez rushed for 73 yards and one TD on only eight carries. Those 73 rushing yards gave Martinez a new career-high.

Looking ahead, Bassick will be playing at home against Bridgeport Central at 10:30 a.m. on the 20th. As for Wilcox Tech/Kaynor RVT, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 21-13 victory against Cheney Tech on the 19th.
