Basketball Recap: Hilton Head Island Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Hilton Head Island, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 65-55 victory over the Bluffton Bobcats on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Seahawks also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Hilton Head Island had a senior duo take command as Josh Hunter dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 boards and Kyrice Bowman posted 21 points and eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hunter has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Reece Stewart, who put up nine points.

Despite the loss, Bluffton still got an impressive performance from Harrison Skinner, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 21 points and four steals. Skinner is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon White, who had eight points and seven rebounds.

With the win, Hilton Head Island broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-8. As for Bluffton, they moved to 13-2 with that loss, which also ended their 11-game winning streak.

Hilton Head Island didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 61-58 defeat against St. Andrew's on the 11th. As for Bluffton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 62-50 victory against Whale Branch on the 11th.
