Softball Game Preview: Breckinridge County Fighting Tigers vs. Butler Bears

Breckinridge County is on a ten-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Butler a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Saturday. The Breckinridge County Fighting Tigers will be playing at home against the Butler Bears. Breckinridge County will be strutting in after a victory while Butler will be coming in after a defeat.

Breckinridge County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with an 8-5 win over Grayson County on Thursday. The game was the first time the Fighting Tigers have beaten the Cougars on their field since March 21, 2022.

Ava Armes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Mallory Lucas was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Karlea Pike, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Butler came up short against Sacred Heart on Wednesday and fell 12-9.

Breckinridge County's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Butler, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
