Football Game Preview: Lake Region Lakers vs. Gray-New Gloucester Patriots

The Lake Region Lakers will venture away from home to face off against the Gray-New Gloucester Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Region has given up an average of 34.7 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lake Region is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maine's top teams: Old Orchard Beach, who was ranked first at the time (Lake Region was ranked seventh). The Lakers fell 60-54 to the Seagulls on Saturday. On the bright side, the 54- point performance marked the Lakers' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Gray-New Gloucester, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 16-6 win over Camden Hills on Thursday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Patriots as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Lake Region is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3. As for Gray-New Gloucester, the win also got them back to even at 3-3.

Lake Region was taken down by Gray-New Gloucester 50-12 in their previous matchup back in October of 2023. Thankfully for the Lakers, Kobi Conant (who rushed for 103 yards and two scores on only 11 carries, and also threw for 181 yards and four TDs) won't be suiting up this time.
