Baseball Game Preview: San Pedro Pirates vs. Rancho Dominguez Lobos

For the second straight game, San Pedro will face off against Rancho Dominguez. The Pirates will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Lobos at 3:00 p.m.

San Pedro headed into their last match having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Rancho Dominguez let them put that streak behind them. The Pirates walked away with a 12-7 victory over the Lobos on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Lobos: they've now won nine in a row.

Tyrus Wilson and Anthony Solis made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Wilson tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Solis pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because San Pedro is 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-9 otherwise. At bat, Wilson scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Solis scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two runs gave Wilson a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Nicholas Hvitfeldtsen looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two).

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Braydon Griffin, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brody Harper, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

San Pedro's victory bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Rancho Dominguez, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.
