Football Recap: Clinton Central Takes a Loss

The matchup between Clinton Central and Eastern on Friday hardly resembled the 18-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Bulldogs had to suffer through a 63-6 loss at the hands of the Comets. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Comets: they've now lost nine in a row.

Despite the loss, Clinton Central still got an impressive performance from Amrin Barrett, who rushed for 96 yards and one score. Barrett also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack, making seven total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defending one pass.

A big part of Eastern's win came down to the chemistry between Gibson Eagle and his top target Bentley Hullinger. Eagle threw for 163 yards and three TDs on only 14 passes while Hullinger gained 122 total yards and three touchdowns. What's more, Eagle racked up 125.9 passer rating, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Cody Tarrh was in the mix too, providing Eastern with two touchdowns.

Clinton Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Eastern, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.

Clinton Central didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 49-8 defeat against Carroll on the 3rd. As for Eastern, they have also already played their next matchup, a 67-0 win against Phalen Leadership Academy on the 3rd.
