Basketball Recap: Jordan White's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy over Westover Christian Academy

Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy lost against Westover Christian Academy back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy Ospreys took a 59-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westover Christian Academy Bulldogs.

Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan White, who went 7-for-17 to rack up 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the most points White has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Threewitts, who went 6-for-14 en route to 17 points.

Even though they lost, Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in four consecutive contests.

It was another big night for Emily Evans, who dropped a double-double with 30 points and 14 boards for Westover Christian Academy. Evans is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last 12 games she's played. Mollie Lackey was another key player, going 5-for-12 on her way to 12 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 16-5. As for Westover Christian Academy, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-6.

Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Westover Christian Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Ridgeview Christian at 5:00 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Abby Fox and Evans.
