Basketball Recap: Hundred Falls Despite Big Games from Trey Huggins and Colt Sandy

Hundred fought the good fight in their overtime game against Valley on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 72-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Valley Lumberjacks. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Lumberjacks recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Colt Sandy and Trey Huggins certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Sandy dropped a double-double on 24 points and 19 boards, while Huggins went 10 for 18 en route to 28 points and five rebounds. The contest was Sandy's fourth in a row with at least ten points.

Even though they lost, Hundred smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Hundred's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4.

Hundred will take on Cameron at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hundred knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Cameron likes a good challenge. As for Valley, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-36 win against Berkeley Springs on the 25th.
