Softball Recap: Chester Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Chester's offense. They came up short against the Brookeland Wildcats on Friday, falling 11-0. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Yellowjackets' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Chester saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tegan Toler, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Chester's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-6. As for Brookeland, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-4-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chester will face off against Zavalla at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Zavalla has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.5 runs per game on average), something Chester will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Brookeland, they will square off against Burkeville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
