The Milford Bearcats will take on the Oakwood Comets at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Milford's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over Herscher.

03/26/25 vs Grant Park | 3 |
05/05/25 @ Iroquois West | 2 |
05/09/25 vs Armstrong | 1 |
04/19/25 @ Beecher | 1 |
The result came thanks to Beau Wright's shutout, as he gave up just three hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Milford is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 10-13 otherwise.
At the plate, Milford saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Preston Janssen, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Oakwood came into Monday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman 12-0 on Monday. Considering the Comets have won nine matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Chase Harrison made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last four games. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Bryson Marcinko was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Jackson Dudley, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Oakwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Oakwood pushed their record up to 16-13 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Milford, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-15 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Milford has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Oakwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Milford beat Oakwood 5-2 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Bearcats repeat their success, or do the Comets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
