Basketball Recap: Jakhari Mackey Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Illiana Christian

Griffith won the last time they faced Illiana Christian and things went their way on Friday too. The Griffith Panthers blew past the Illiana Christian Vikings 63-42. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 21 points or more this season.

Griffith got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jakhari Mackey out in front who posted 19 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Mackey has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Gianni Feaster, who had 17 points and three steals.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Grant Rappold, who put up ten points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin O'Hara, who earned six points and five boards.

Griffith's record now sits at 4-1. As for Illiana Christian, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

Griffith wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 45-42 loss against La Porte on the 20th. As for Illiana Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-59 defeat against Highland on the 16th.
