Basketball Preview: Franklin Wildcats vs. Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack
Franklin and the Wolfpack are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Franklin Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Franklin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 14 to 1 on the offensive boards, a fact Franklin proved. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Davis Sr. and snuck past 47-45. Given Franklin's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 494th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Franklin found their leader in underclassman Aiden Rollins, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gregory Piotrowski, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Pleasant Grove scored an imposing 64 points on Monday, Cosumnes Oaks still came out on top. Cosumnes Oaks took their matchup against the Eagles 76-64.
Franklin's victory bumped their record up to 20-6. As for Cosumnes Oaks, their victory bumped their record up to 14-11.
Franklin beat the Wolfpack 77-65 when the teams last played back in January. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Cosumnes Oaks' Jay Washington, who scored 26 points along with four steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Franklin still be able to contain Washington? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
