Preview: Wells Leopards vs. Carlin Railroaders
Wells is 10-0 against Carlin since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Wells Leopards will head out on the road to face off against the Carlin Railroaders at 6:00 p.m. Wells' defense has only allowed 29.1 points per game this season, so Carlin's offense will have their work cut out for them.
Wells can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Jackpot 45-6 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Wells has posted yet this season.
Meanwhile, Carlin's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their ninth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Round Mountain, falling 42-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Carlin has suffered yet this season.
Despite the loss, Carlin got a solid performance out of Bretta Melendez, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Wells now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Carlin, they bumped their record down to 2-9 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Wells was able to grind out a solid victory over Carlin in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 42-29. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wells since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
