Soccer Game Preview: William Blount vs. Austin-East

The William Blount Governors are taking a road trip to square off against the Austin-East Roadrunners at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Last Tuesday, William Blount didn't have quite enough to beat Maryville and fell 2-1.

The Governors' goal came courtesy of Samuel Sholtz, who's now up to two this season.

Meanwhile, Austin-East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Carter. The match was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Austin-East couldn't quite close it out.

Austin-East's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for William Blount, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

William Blount skirted past Austin-East 5-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Governors repeat their success, or do the Roadrunners have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
