Softball Recap: Stanton County Drops Season-High Score on Sublette

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stanton County). They were the clear victors by a 22-5 margin over the Sublette Larks on Thursday. The game was the first time the Trojans have beaten the Larks on their field since April 12, 2016.

Sidney Parks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 4-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Kynzi Fehringer was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Valeria Ortega, who went 3-for-5 with six RBI and two runs.

Stanton County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Stanton County pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.0 runs over those games. As for Sublette, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-3-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Stanton County beat the Larks by a score of 8-4 later that day.
