Softball Recap: Marin Catholic Snags Tenth Win in Last 11 Games

Tamalpais typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Marin Catholic proved too difficult a challenge. They skirted past the Red Tailed Hawks 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since March 24th.

Malliah Foster spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Morgan Carlson was incredible, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyla Gonzalez, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Marin Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Tamalpais, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-6.

Coincidentally, Marin Catholic and Tamalpais will both be playing San Marin the next time they take the field. The Wildcats will head out to face the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Red Tailed Hawks will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
