Softball Recap: Capitan Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Capitan can now relate to. They fell just short of the Hozho Academy Wolves by a score of 13-12 on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Wolves: they've now lost four in a row.

Shaeleigh VanWinkle was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Kailei Smith, who got on base in four of her seven plate appearances with one double.

Capitan's defeat dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Hozho Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-4 record this season.

Capitan does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hozho Academy, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-9 victory against Eunice on the 14th.
