Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Aftyn Hurst and Paige Wakumoto Lead Lehi to Victory

Lehi proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Alta Hawks 3-2. This was payback for the Pioneers, who suffered a 3-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Lehi took Alta into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-13, 20-25, 22-25, 15-12.

Leading Lehi to victory were Paige Wakumoto and Aftyn Hurst. Wakumoto had 18 digs and four aces, while Hurst had 12 digs and four aces. Those 12 digs gave Hurst a new career-high.

Lehi's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Alta, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Lehi will challenge Payson at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Alta, they will take on South Anchorage at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
