Edgewood and Clay City are an even 4-4 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. The Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eels at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Edgewood will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Edgewood came out on top against Cloverdale on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Clovers with a sharp 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

ALLY BLAND made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, ADDISON YEARBY was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. OLIVIA McPHERSON was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Edgewood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cloverdale only posted an OBP of .176.
Meanwhile, Clay City beat Linton-Stockton 6-1 on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Eels in their matchups with the Miners: they've now won five in a row.
Lizzy Sinders spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Karlee Smith and Bri Rexrode did most of the damage at the plate: Smith went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Rexrode went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
Edgewood pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Clay City, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Edgewood has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Clay City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
