Recap: Harper Woods Pioneers vs. Ferndale Eagles
After a string of four wins, the Harper Woods Pioneers's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 60-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ferndale. The final score was a far cry from the score of their previous head-to-head, which saw the teams combine for two points.
Ferndale got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Janiya Larry out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Frost, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Harper Woods' loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Ferndale, they pushed their record up to 10-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harper Woods is on the road again on Thursday and plays Bloomfield Hills at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. One thing working in Harper Woods' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups. As for Ferndale, they will head out on the road to face off against Oak Park at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Oak Park focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 43 last Friday.
