Volleyball Recap: The Academy Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

If The Academy was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Kiowa on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats fell just short of the Lyons Lions by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Lions 25-18 in the first set.

The Academy wouldn't go down easily and took Lyons into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking four-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-18, 25-17, 19-25, 15-11.

Despite the loss, The Academy still got an impressive performance from Jaelyn Farmer, who had 18 digs and one assist. Farmer is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 14 games she's played.

Lyons found their leader in sophomore Gwen Gadbaw, who had 13 digs and two aces.

The Academy's loss ended a four-match streak of away wins and brought them to 9-14. As for Lyons, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 21-2.

As of now, neither The Academy nor the Lions have any future games scheduled.
