Basketball Recap: North Plainfield Takes a Loss

North Plainfield fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Timothy Christian on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 67-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Timothy Christian. The Canucks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Timothy Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Timothy Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jalen Fleming led the charge by dropping a double-double on 32 points and ten rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Fleming has scored at least a third of Timothy Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Elijah Pierre, who posted 17 points and four steals.

North Plainfield's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Timothy Christian, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

North Plainfield will welcome Spotswood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Timothy Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Edison at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
