Softball Recap: Mallard Creek Comes Up Short

Mallard Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cox Mill Chargers. The Mavericks were not able to make up for their defeat to the Chargers from their previous meeting back in March of 2018.

Kenzie Ingram and Morgan Lampkin stepped up to the plate in a big way. Ingram scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Lampkin scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Damayia Alexander also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Mallard Creek's record now sits at 5-10. As for Cox Mill, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mallard Creek will host North Mecklenburg at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cox Mill, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Mooresville at 6:00 p.m.
