The Ocean Springs Greyhounds and the Vancleave Bulldogs will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Ocean Springs will be strutting in after a victory while Vancleave will be coming in after a loss.
Ocean Springs was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Greene County on Friday. Everything went Ocean Springs' way against Greene County as Ocean Springs made off with a 14-0 win. The Greyhounds' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Kylie Untisz looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gracie McDonald, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with seven RBI, two triples, and one stolen base. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. London Breazeale was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.
Ocean Springs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .378 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Vancleave lost 10-1 to South Panola on Saturday. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Vancleave saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hadleigh Hall, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
The victory got Ocean Springs back to even at 4-4. As for Vancleave, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.
Vancleave's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Ocean Springs has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. It's a different story for Vancleave, though, as they've only averaged .354. Will they be able to contain Ocean Springs' hitters?
Ocean Springs couldn't quite finish off Vancleave when the teams last played on Thursday and fell 11-9. Can Ocean Springs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
