Soccer Game Preview: Conway vs. St. James

Conway is 2-8 against St. James since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Tigers will challenge the Sharks at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Conway managed to keep up with Myrtle Beach until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Tigers lost 3-0 to the Seahawks. The shutout was out of character for Conway seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in February.

Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, St. James' good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. While the 3-3 score might suggest a draw, it was Carolina Forest who was credited with the win. The Panthers got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to St. James' four. Hampton Mitchell was hit with a yellow card, which may have had some impact on his (and the team's) ability to make aggressive plays.

St. James hit Carolina Forest with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Kai Fakhouri, River Benjamin, and Jameson Crawford.

St. James' loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 9-4. As for Conway, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

Conway couldn't quite get it done against St. James in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 3-1. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
