League recap: Mount Dora Bible's Conod delivers best pitching performance from past week

3A District 5 league recap: 3/13/13

Mount Dora Bible's Jon Conod was the best pitcher in 3A District 5 this week. He struck out 12 batters this week.

Top honors in the league this week go to Orangewood Christian, which finished with two wins overall, good for best in the league. The Rams beat Windermere Prep 12-2 and the Bulldogs 12-4.

First Academy boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

Orangewood Christian stole 23 bases this week, adding to its league-leading 53 steals on the year.

There were eight hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. Leading the pack was Devin Simmons, who hit .545 by going 6-for-11.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Conod, who turned in 12 Ks for Mount Dora Bible. He's first in the league with 34 total strikeouts.



Tevin Symonette drove in four runners as the Bulldogs defeated Cornerstone Charter Academy 16-3 on Friday. He went 2-for-3 and scored two runs.

The Royals' Conod struck out nine Mount Dora Bible hitters en route to a 3-2 victory on March 5. He gave up three hits and two runs over five innings of work.
