After a string of eight wins, Albuquerque Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 74-67 to the Sandia Matadors. The Chargers lost against the Matadors in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 91-61 score last time.

It was another big night for Zaire Ndyabagye, who went 7 of 12 en route to 21 points and four steals for Sandia. Ndyabagye is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Brown, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine assists.

Albuquerque Academy's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6. As for Sandia, they pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Albuquerque Academy will take on Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sandia, they will challenge Capital at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
