Soccer Game Preview: Cedar Creek vs. Bastrop

The Cedar Creek Eagles will be defending their home pitch for the first time this season when they go up against the Bastrop Bears at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Cedar Creek will be strutting in after a win while Bastrop will be coming in after a defeat.

Cedar Creek's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Crockett with a sharp 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for Cedar Creek in their matchups with Crockett: they've now won three in a row.

Isabelle Ledesma and Sophia Rodriguez scored all three of Cedar Creek's goals, bringing their combined season tally to four goals.

Meanwhile, Bastrop didn't have quite enough to beat Richards School for Young Women Leaders on Thursday and fell 2-1. While losing is never fun, Bastrop can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 537th, while Richards School for Young Women Leaders are ranked 246th).

This is the second loss in a row for Bastrop and nudges their season record down to 1-7-1. As for Cedar Creek, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Cedar Creek came out on top in a nail-biter against Bastrop when the teams last played back in February of 2025, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
