Preview: Gila Ridge Hawks vs. Kofa Kings
Gila Ridge is 10-0 against Kofa since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. Both teams will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Gila Ridge can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They put the hurt on San Luis with a sharp 45-19 victory. That's two games straight that Gila Ridge has won by exactly 26 points.
Meanwhile, Kofa came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points) and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Copper Canyon 40-37. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Kofa has posted yet this season.
Gila Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Kofa, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Everything came up roses for Gila Ridge against Kofa in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 53-20 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gila Ridge since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
