Waupun put the finishing touches on their 12th blowout victory of the season on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lomira Lions a 7-0 shutout. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Waupun also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2023.
The result came thanks to Jake Krueger's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, Evan Sauer was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI.
Waupun's victory bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Lomira, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Waupun will take on Plymouth at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Plymouth will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Waupun surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lomira, they will head out on the road to square off against North Fond du Lac at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lomira's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so North Fond du Lac's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
