Recap: Kingwood Mustangs vs. Humble Wildcats
The Kingwood Mustangs fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 35-25 win over Humble on Friday. This was payback for Kingwood, who suffered a 22-19 loss the last time these two teams met.
Marquez Davis was on fire: he rushed for 148 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Davis was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 64 yards. Jailen Monegan did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 88 receiving yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 39 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes.
Humble's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Jacory Johnson, who rushed for 53 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
Kingwood's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Humble, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Kingwood will look to defend their home field on Thursday against North Shore at 7:00 p.m. North Shore is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Humble, they will head out on the road to face off against Beaumont United at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Beaumont United will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 503rd, while Humble is ranked 245th).
