Soccer Game Preview: Grove City vs. Slippery Rock + How To Watch

The Grove City Eagles will head out to take on the Slippery Rock Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Grove City fought the good fight in their overtime match against Hickory on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 3-2. While losing is never fun, Grove City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania soccer rankings (they are ranked 369th, while Hickory are ranked 172nd).

Joel Saunders wasn't going to let Hickory walk away unscathed as he scored both of Grove City's goals, bringing his season total up to 13 goals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Slippery Rock). Everything went their way against Conneaut Area on Tuesday as they made off with an 8-2 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 5-0.

The win was the third in a row for Slippery Rock, bringing their record up to 8-3. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those three contests. As for Grove City, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.

Grove City suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Slippery Rock in their previous matchup back in September. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
