Preview: Heartland Lutheran Red Hornets vs. Nebraska Christian Eagles
Heartland Lutheran has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. Having just played yesterday, they will head out on the road to face off against the Nebraska Christian Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Heartland Lutheran scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat St. Edward 61-10 at home. That 51 points margin sets a new team best for Heartland Lutheran this season.
Heartland Lutheran can attribute much of their success to Brielle Saddler, who scored 11 points along with five assists and three steals, and Carly Niemoth, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Niemoth has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Francl, who scored four points along with eight steals.
Meanwhile, Nebraska Christian can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent matchup two weeks ago. They put the hurt on Central Valley with a sharp 52-29 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Nebraska Christian.
Heartland Lutheran's win ended a eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-8. As for Nebraska Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Heartland Lutheran suffered a grim 56-35 defeat to Nebraska Christian in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Heartland Lutheran avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
