Volleyball Recap: Eastmark Comes Up Short + How To Watch

If Eastmark was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Crismon on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Firebirds took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the ALA - Gilbert North Eagles on Thursday. The Firebirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Eastmark lost, don't look at Kylie Stallings. Despite the final result, she had 19 assists and four digs. Stallings is crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 13 every time she's taken the court this season.

Leading ALA - Gilbert North to victory were Kalley Cutchen and Jane Taylor. Cutchen had 34 digs and two aces, while Taylor had 16 digs and one assist. Those 34 digs gave Cutchen a new career-high. Merae Leslie also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Eastmark's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for ALA - Gilbert North, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 18-15 record this season.
