Baseball Recap: Windsor Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Windsor ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the George Washington Patriots 7-6. The victory was nothing new for the Wizards as they're now sitting on four straight.

Ethan Fillinger made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other pitching news, Marcus Hull looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

Back at the plate, Eastin Hubbard was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Tripp Thomas, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Windsor's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for George Washington, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Coming up, Windsor will head out on the road to square off against Greeley West at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wizards are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for George Washington, they will be playing at home against Rangeview at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.
