Basketball Recap: Schenectady Takes a Loss

Schenectady was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 21st straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Guilderland Flying Dutchmen 74-17. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 537th, while the Flying Dutchmen are ranked 114th).

Guilderland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayde Caark, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. Caark is becoming a predictor of Guilderland's success: when she posts at least eight boards the team is undefeated (and 6-8 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Christina Williams, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 13 points along with six assists and six rebounds.

Schenectady's defeat dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Guilderland, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Looking ahead, Schenectady is taking a road trip to square off against Shaker at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Shaker will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something Schenectady surely won't give up without a fight. As for Guilderland, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 61-37 victory against Ballston Spa on the 12th.
