Volleyball Recap: Kelly Lopez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cushman over Mater Brickell Academy

Cushman saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell just short of the Mater Brickell Academy Bulls by a score of 2-1. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Cushman sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 10-25, 15-8.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kelly Lopez, who had 15 assists and three aces. Lopez is crushing it when it comes to aces: she's served at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Martina Mouawad, who had nine digs and three aces.

Cushman's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Mater Brickell Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Cushman wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Horeb Christian on the 23rd. As for Mater Brickell Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Basilica on the 23rd.
